About the MLH Foundation

Born From The Legacy Left By an Unforgettable Woman

A 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in the state of North Carolina in October 2019.

The sole mission of the MLH Foundation is to have a substantially positive impact on women and families impacted by a gynecological cancer diagnosis. We will do this in so many ways...

By focusing on early detection strategies, we will educate health care providers in eastern North Carolina on how to identify early signals of these diseases in their own practice. We will connect them with gynecological oncologists in their networks where they can refer patients in times of need. This will enable women to be seen by the appropriate healthcare provider in times of uncertainty and will lead to drastically improved outcomes through earlier diagnosis and treatment.

We will financially and emotionally support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer and surviving with and/or currently going through treatment in ways that present an emergent need. We will also support infusion centers where gynecological cancer patients are treated.

We hope to soon break into the financial support and advancement of gynecological cancer focused research grants as well as event and retreat organization focused in the areas of life that MaryLynn loved most.

We plan to continually hold our annual flagship event, The MaryLynn Hardesty Teal Hearts 5K/10K, which takes place on Carolina Beach in September of each year. Check out our events page for more information!

While the mission of this foundation is dedicated to MaryLynn, we have vowed on her behalf to selflessly benefit patients and families affected by gynecological cancers so that they may obtain the highest level of support in times of need, which is what always comforted MaryLynn the most. She was lucky to be surrounded by an amazing support group of medical professionals and family members who were by her side every step of the way. She wished the same for every other woman she met in her situation. We're here to provide that.
